Jackson Community Concert Band
The Jackson Community Concert Band, established in 1987, fills a unique position in the musical opportunities in Jackson. Membership in the band is open to college students for credit, and also to community musicians who wish to participate but not for credit. The band performs challenging music and strives to maintain the highest standards of performance. Two formal concerts, in November and March, college commencement, and the “Front Porch Pre-4th of July Concert” offer a busy yearly performance schedule. The rehearsals, each Tuesday evening, offer a musical outlet that members look forward to each week. The band also welcomes guest soloists, many outstanding musicians in their own right, and has performed with the Jackson Community Chorale.
